Applications
The Rosemount 5600 Series is a high performance non-contacting radar level transmitter. With superior signal processing and intelligent echo-tracking features, this transmitter provides a reliable level measurement in most process level applications, including liquids, slurries and solids. | |
General Applications The Rosemount 5600 is an excellent non-contacting radar transmitter suitable for many different types of applications. For corrosive applications or in applications with viscous, sticky products – the non-contacting technology is the preferred, best practice choice. Reactor Tanks When applications and process conditions get tough, it is beneficial to have extra power on the surface in order to get a reliable and robust level measurement. The 5600 with its superior 4-wire performance provides a reliable measurement, even under extreme conditions such as heavy agitation or turbulence, or when measuring products with a very low dielectric constant. Tall Vessels Products can sometimes be stored in very tall tanks. This is acceptable from a radar perspective provided you get enough signal energy returned from the surface echo. The higher the tank, the less energy is able to return back to the antenna. The combination of a medium tall tank and a measured product with a low dielectric constant will also mean less returned energy. It is in these applications the 5600 is a perfect fit, since it has the power required to measure products in tanks up to 164 ft (50 m) using the standard transmitter, and up to 325 ft (99 m) as an option. Solids measurements The level measurement of solid materials has been a frustrating experience for many users. The number of available technologies suitable for solid measurements is limited. Radar, ultrasonic, nuclear capacitance, phase shift, weigh cells, and mechanical devices are the most common technologies found in these applications. The technologies available all have varying results and restrictions, with radar being the most flexible solution. |
